Four tracks to remember this period
June 13th 2020
warning; may or may not be kinda mainstream These songs and albums were released around this period but weren't, for the most part, originally designed for these times. Yet they really strike a chord.
-
I Know Alone - HAIM
Relatable song even without mandated self isolation. They also released Don't Wanna which is another catchy bop. -
You'll miss me when I'm not around - Grimes
It's apparent that Grimes' music is different, and yet what I like most about her music is its familiarity. Its emotive in a way that is sometimes inexplicable. Through her unorthodox and personal way of making music, nuanced feelings can be conveyed. That may be why she's one of my favorite artists right now. But even with the attention she has recently gained, her music is stil sooooo underrated. Miss Anthropocene has some ultra cool hits. Delete forever, My Name is Dark, IDORU are awesome. -
After Hours - The Weeknd
I know.. kind of mainstream. But there was a period when I only listened to the title song on repeat. Also it is a pretty cool song to run to at 6am. Trilogy is my favorite collection still from The Weeknd. -
The New Abnormal - The Strokes
Yeah TNA is not a song. Its an album and I am not entirely sure where to begin in explaining all the emotions I had for the release of this. The full album was released in early April, but we were already treated to two of the tracks in the concert on NYE 2019/ New Years Day 2020 (probably the best day of 2020). Being a typical fan, I couldn't just list one song from the album as my favorite. Besides, its hard to pick among my favorites ( Brooklyn Bridge to Chorus / Selfless / Why are Sundays So Depressing). The Adults are Talking could probably sneak in there too.
